Hornworms are a common large caterpillar that can quickly defoliate tobacco and tomato plants as well as datura. Synonyms include Tomato hornworm, tobacco hornworm and Hawkmoth larva. A wasp, Cotesia congregata, has been known to parasitize the larva of Manduca.
