These images were illuminated using the Pedersen Dual Quarter Wave Technique (PDQWT)*.

This slide was prepared by Ward’s Natural Science Establishment. It was produced prior to the use of product numbers. Though it way well date back into the 1950s, the slide remains in excellent condition.

*The Pedersen Dual Quarter Wave Technique (PDQWT) involves placing over the source of illumination a pair of one quarter wave polarizing surfaces that are rotated, one against the other, to control the amount of back light on a prepared microscope slide.
