In a vacuum, objects fall at almost the same rate regardless of weight, material or shape. The equipment, also known as "feather and guinea", is used to demonstrate this truth, to study electrical discharge through rarefied gas and to display the "fountain in a vacuum". It consists of a break-resistant acrylic tube with rubber expansion plugs, a stopcock for vacuum connection and a heavy tripod base. The expansion plugs are easily removed for cleaning and storage. Furnished with a metal disc and a feather.
